This Technical Regulation of the Customs Union sets out the requirements to equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres, the compliance with which provides its safe use in explosive atmospheres. It was adopted for the purpose of protection of life and health of persons, property and prevention of actions misleading the customers.

EUROPEAN ANALOGUE - ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU
PRODUCTS TO BE CERTIFIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH TR CU 012/2011:
The Technical Regulation of the Customs Union 012/2011 applies to electrical equipment (electrical apparatus), including Ex-components, and non-electrical equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres.
TR CU 012/2011 DOES NOT APPLY TO:
- Medical devices;
- Equipment, which can cause a risk of explosion only due to the presence of explosive and unstable chemical compounds;
- Equipment for household and non-industrial use appliances where an explosive atmosphere might be formed as a result of the unexpected release of flammable gas;
- Personal protective equipment (PPE);
- Equipment that is to be used on ships, mobile offshore platforms and drilling rigs;
- Passenger transport vehicles (air, rail and water);
- Nuclear weapons and research facilities of nuclear defense complex organizations, except the equipment located in hazardous areas.
APPROVAL FORMS:
TR CU 012/2011 assumes only one approval form:
- THE CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY
WHO CAN APPLY?
The foreign manufacturer can apply for certification only through the Customs union residential company. It means that a Russian, Kazakh or other CU country’s company should bear responsibility for the products quality on the base of Local representative agreement. It can be the importer, distributor of the product or any other company located in the CU that will agree to act as a Local Representative.
POSSIBLE APLIED VALIDITY
The CoC can be issued for a batch (one consignment) or for serially produced products. The maximum applied validity of the approval document is 5 years.
PROCESS FEATURES
The Technical Regulation of the Customs Union sets out the obligatory tests of the samples in the accredited laboratory on the territory of the CU and production site audit or in other words audit of Quality Management System (QMS).
TIMING
The process lasts for 30 – 45 days
SPECIAL MARK
After the certification process is completed the product should be marked as the following:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
According to TR CU 012, the marking of EX products shall include the following information:
- name of the manufacturer or his registered trademark;
- model / item / series name;
- serial number;
- registration number of the CoC;
- EX marking.
- EAC mark, EX mark.
The marking must be drawn up in the Russian language
