SQM is proof that a manufacturer has implemented an effective quality management system to ensure that the aforementioned standards are consistently met. An SQM license requires a comprehensive assessment of the product as well as the quality system used by the manufacturer in production through audit, testing and verification. The certificate will be valid for three years and subject to surveillance reviews every 6-12 months, depending on the product. SQM is both voluntary and mandatory. If manufacturers want to increase consumer confidence in their products and the product is not subject to SASO regulation, SQM can be chosen as a voluntary mark.
