EAC certification procedure for export to Customs union of explosion-proof products (ATEX, IECEX certified equipment).

Most products that are supplied to the gas and oil industry facilities require to have the explosion-proof features in order to avoid any accidents and emergency situations because in dust and gas explosive environments.
Main requirements for the Ex products are highlighted in the Technical Regulation of the Customs union «On safety of equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres» (TR CU 012/2011).
This technical regulation of the Customs Union applies to electrical equipment, including Ex-components, and non-electrical equipment which has special qualities that ensure protection and has Ex marking.
Although the TR CU 012 standards are harmonised with most IEC requirements, the IECEX or ATEX test reports ca no not be accepted for EAC certification. It means that the tests in the accredited certification laboratory must be conducted in order to obtain the EAC mark, special EX mark and export products to the territory of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, and Armenia.
Explosion proof product can get the approval only in form of Certificate of Conformity (EAC CoC).
The certification process for serially produced products usually lasts for 30-45 days and assumes import of samples in the CU laboratory and production site audit or in other words Quality Management System (QMS) audit as two main stages.

In accordance with the Technical Regulations of the Customs union, the manufacturer can apply for certification only through the Customs union residential company. It means that a Russian, Kazakh or other CU country’s company should bear responsibility for the products quality on the base of Local representative agreement. It can be the importer, distributor of the product or any other company located in the CU that will agree to act as a Local Representative.
