Saudi Certification Types

SASO

SASO is a Saudi standard and technical regulation Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) . In the context of SASO's national transformation program, Saudi Arabia has developed a product safety program, also known as SALEEM. Its purpose is to ensure the definition of quality and safety standards in Saudi Arabia, as well as goods released for import, to the Saudi specialized and technological regulations developed by SASO; protecting the health and safety of consumers and the environment.

Saber

SABER is a platform that allows importers and manufacturers to obtain Certifications of Conformity and Certifications of Conformity for consumer products, whether they were imported or locally produced to enter the Saudi Arabian market. The platform aims to protect against fraud and ensure the existence of product defects that can be used to protect the health and safety of consumers.

Which products must be registered with SABER?

As of January 2021, all regulated and non-regulated products, whether imported or produced locally, must be registered with SABER.

Who should register for SABER?

All importers/manufacturers registered in the commercial register of Saudi Arabia, as well as local manufacturers.

Certificate of Product Conformity (PCoC)

A Product Compliance Certificate (PCoC) is required for each regulated product in accordance with applicable product standards, plan in accordance with the technical regulation. PCoC, imported products have been registered with SABER and are applicable to SASO technical regulations. The Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) is issued online on the SABER platform. It is valid for one year. 

Shipping Certificate of Conformity (SCoC)

The Shipping Certificate of Conformity (SCoC), which is required for all imported products, cannot be obtained for regulated products unless their PCoC has been previously completed. If a valid PCoC is validated, the SABRE platform issues an SCoC for that specific delivery only.

ICEEE recognition

IECEE recognition certificate for loading product types imported into Saudi Arabia. IEC (IECEE) Electrical Equipment and Components Conformity Schemes and also take into account Saudi Arabia's decline reduction. The SASO IECEE recognition certificate will be valid for one year and must be renewed annually. In order to gain access to the application in the Saudi Arabian market, the SASO Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is still mandatory for product categories within the scope, and the SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate is a prerequisite for obtaining the SASO Certificate of Conformity.

CITC

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) is authorized to license telecommunications and information equipment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The approval of the communications market in Saudi Arabia is provided by the Information Technology Commission (CITC). CITC certification is an important indicator in the wireless technology market in Saudi Arabia. The CITC certificate is a document confirming the readiness of the equipment to the technical specifications issued by the Commission. It is valid for a total of two years, and the calculation process takes one to two weeks.

Q-label

The SASO Quality Seal is a mark of conformity given to products that demonstrates compliance with relevant national standards set by the Saudi Arabian Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) in Saudi Arabia. SQM is proof that a manufacturer has implemented an effective quality management system to ensure that the aforementioned standards are consistently met. An SQM license requires a comprehensive assessment of the product as well as the quality system used by the manufacturer in production through audit, testing and verification. The certificate will be valid for three years and subject to surveillance reviews every 6-12 months, depending on the product. SQM is both voluntary and mandatory. If manufacturers want to increase consumer confidence in their products and the product is not subject to SASO regulation, SQM can be chosen as a voluntary mark.
