The objective of the IECEx System is to facilitate international trade in equipment and services used in explosive atmospheres by eliminating procedures of multiple national certification while consistently maintaining the necessary level of security.
The basic principles of explosion safety are universal. They are based on the recommendations of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). At the same time, there are different systems of compliance assessment of explosion-proof equipment in the world, like regional
(ATEX in Europe), national (GOST R in Russia, UL and FM in the United States, etc.), and international (IECEx).
The IECEx System is an international system of certification for compliance with the requirements of standards for electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres, which is created within the framework of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC, IEC) along with certification systems for electrical equipment (IEC CE, IECEE) and electronic components (IEC EC, IECQ).
The objective of the IECEx System is to facilitate international trade in equipment and services used in explosive atmospheres by eliminating procedures of multiple national certification while consistently maintaining the necessary level of security. This means reducing the cost of testing and certification for manufacturer and reducing the time of products to arrive to the market.
IECEx system was established in 1995. Currently member committees from 33 countries work within the framework of this System. Members of the IECEx System are Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, USA, UAE.
The activity of certification system in accordance with the requirements of standards relating to equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres (IECEx System) includes assessment and certification of equipment, workshops, staff competence and licensing of IECEx Conformity Mark application.
The following certification schemes operate in IECEx System:
Manufacturers of Ex-equipment and Ex-equipment workshops can apply for certification in the IECEx Certification Bodies (ExCB) in any country.
Countries and Certification Bodies can apply for membership in the IECEx Scheme in accordance with the procedures for the submission of applications. After accreditation in the Scheme, the Certification Bodies will have the right to issue IECEx Certificates.
Rules of the IECEx System including Procedure rules are posted free on the website of IEC.
National bodies-members of IEC System apply for their country's participation in the IEC system according to specific standards. The application is submitted to the Executive Secretary of the IECEx System.
WWBridge is cooperating with a specialized center for certification of equipment for explosive atmospheres (Ex-equipment) and the only center in Russia and the member-countries of the Eurasian Economic Union accredited to carry out works on conformity assessment with international certification system IECEx scheme (since 2004).
Ensuring participation of the Russian Federation in the work of the IECEx System, in accordance with the orders of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 963-р dated July 17, 2001 and No. 526-р dated April 17, 2006 is vested in Rosstandart.
It has been accredited in the IECEX System s ince 2004 as certification body and testing laboratory of equipment for explosive atmospheres.
Test reports and quality assessment records issued in Russia are recognized by all bodies from 33 member-countries of IECEx System, in accordance with the requirements of IECEx 02 rules.
We can conduct testing and conformity assessment of Ex-equipment taking into account national specifics to obtain regional/national documents on conformity assessment on the basis of the IECEx test reports (ATEX for the European Union, UL for USA and Canada, a certificate of compliance for South Africa, China and other countries in the IECEx System.)
