Emirates Authority For Standardization & Metrology (Esma)

Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA) is the national standardization body in the UAE.
In the area of ​​responsibility of ESMA: control over the quality of products and the adoption of international standards by manufacturers. ESMA also oversees the issuance of certificates of conformity (ECAS) for manufacturers of regulated products.

ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY (ECAS)

Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) is a product certification required to place any product on the UAE market, which is subject to regulation under Federal Law 28 of 2001.

Certification requires adherence to national, regional (GCC/GSO) and/or international standards and the implementation of an effective quality management system. 

ECAS REGISTRATION PROCESS WITH ESMA

  • Registration and application for a certificate of conformity through the ESMA website
  • Website submission
  • Pay fees using online banking
  • Submitted documents will be reviewed by the authorities
  • If the product meets all the requirements, a certificate of conformity will be issued
  • Energy labeling applies to electrical equipment and devices.

WHO SHOULD APPLY FOR THE ECAS CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY?

A company that has a trade license to conduct this type of activity in the UAE (Valid UAE Trade License)
Licenses are issued for different types of activities. Trading licenses are divided into specific and general. A trading license allows you to - export, import and store all the goods specified in the license. In this case, the applicant must have a license for the import and trade of cosmetics
The applicant company is fully responsible for the quality of the products, the correctness of the labeling.

ECAS Certificate Validity

• The ECAS certificate is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.

EMIRATES QUALITY MARK (EQM)

EQM is a mark of conformity for products that comply with international quality management system standards.

EQM is a voluntary certificate valid for 3 years (mandatory for bottled drinking water).

With the EQM certificate, products are certified for compliance with International Quality Standards. The manufacturer has implemented an effective quality management system to ensure continued compliance.

EQM includes a comprehensive assessment of the product, as well as the quality system used by the manufacturer in production through auditing, testing and inspection.

The EQM mark must be applied to the certified product as evidence of conformity and federal government approval through ESMA.

Gulf Conformity mark, also known as G-mark is a certification mark used to indicate products that conform to all technical regulations of the Gulf Cooperation Council. It means that the G-marked products meet all requirements of the corresponding technical regulations and have passed all conformity assessment procedures. The mark was introduced in 2009.
