The GOST system is currently being replaced with EAC certification system which was based on Technical Regulations of the Customs union (starting from 2010) and now transformed to Technical Regulations of Eurasian Economic Union (TR EAEU), however, some of the national GOSTs for certain types of products still remain effective because of the necessity to regulate and control the quality of the products which still have no harmonized requirements. 

It is mainly the following products: 

• building materials;
• tableware;
• high-voltage (> 1000 V) equipment;
• steel ropes;
• polyethylene pipes;
• some kinds of Medical devices etc;

The approval is required in each country in order to successfully importing these products to several CIS countries which assume applying to each country for certification to accredited certification authority or institute.

Each country has its own feature in the inner certification process. For example, GOST-R approval has two forms – Certificate of conformity (CoC) and Declaration of Conformity (DoC). Both documents can be issued for batch and for serial production of the applied good.

Validity of the document

The maximum validity of the Certificate / Declaration is 3 years and as a most CIS approval documents, GOST-R certification doesn't assume the prolongation. So, after the CoC/DoC is expired the procedure should be fully repeated.

GOST-R Certificate can be issued also on a voluntary basis in case your product doesn't fall under TR EAEU of obligatory inner Russian standards.

Voluntary certification is a way to show the quality of the products to the buyers from Russian and intensify attractiveness of business collaboration. This statement is also true for all CIS countries that have Voluntary approval form (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine etc.).
You can apply for GOST-R Certificates as a foreign manufacturer which means that there is no need for any resident company that will bear the responsibility of the products quality on the territory of the Russian Federation.

At the same time applicant for the GOST-R declaration of conformity should be only a Russian resident company on the base of Local representative agreement.

In order to apply for Obligatory/Voluntary GOST-R certification, the tests in the Russian laboratory should be also organised. It means that you need to send us the sample to prove the conformity of the product to national standards.

After the tests are done we need 1-2 days to register the DoC / CoC in case it was issued as obligatory documents. At the same time, it is important to note that there is no register for Voluntary GOST-R Certificates.
